Privacy Policy

What we collect, why we need it, and how to see, change or delete it, in plain words.

Who we are

Orbit is a dating app made by Deelo. It is operated by [Legal entity name], [registered address] (“Orbit”, “we”, “us”). This policy explains what personal data we collect when you use the Orbit app and this website, why we collect it, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and the choices you have.

We have written it to match how Orbit actually works. If something here is unclear, write to privacy@orbit.deelo.in.

The short version. We never receive your exact location and never show it to anyone. We do not sell your data, use advertising trackers, or track you across other apps. You can download your data or delete your account in the app at any time.

Adults only

Orbit is only for people aged 18 and over. We check your date of birth when you sign up and do not let anyone younger create an account. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 18, we remove it.

What we collect

Things you give us

  • Sign-in details: your email address (we send you a one-time code), or your Apple ID sign-in if you use Sign in with Apple. With Sign in with Apple you can hide your email, in which case we receive Apple’s relay address. If we offer sign-in by text message, your phone number is collected only if you choose that option.
  • Your profile: first name, date of birth (others only see your age), gender, who you would like to meet, what you are looking for, bio, prompts, interests, lifestyle tags and photos. Your gender and who you want to meet may reveal your sexual orientation. We use them only to show you to suitable people.
  • Messages: notes you send before a match, and chats after one.
  • Plans: plans you post (activity, day, time window and a general area) and plans you show interest in.
  • Vouches: positive tags you give people you have chatted with or met.
  • Verification selfie: if you choose to get verified (see Photos and verification).
  • Reports, blocks and support requests you make, and anything you write in them.
  • Settings: age range, distance, privacy settings (such as pausing, invisible mode and read receipts) and notification settings.

Things collected as you use Orbit

  • Approximate location: an area of about 1 km, explained in Your location.
  • Activity: likes, passes, matches, and which days you opened Orbit. This makes Orbit work (for example, daily like limits) and gives us overall counts, such as how many people used Orbit today. It is not used to build an advertising profile.
  • Purchases: which Orbit Plus plan or pack you bought, and when it renews or expires, as reported by Apple. Apple handles payment. We never see your card details.
  • Consent record: which version of the Terms of Use and this Privacy Policy you accepted, and when.
  • Device details: a push notification token so we can send you notifications, and basic technical logs (such as IP address and request times) kept briefly for security.
  • Crash reports: if crash reporting is turned on, technical details about errors in the app. We do not intentionally include personal data in them.

What we do not collect

We do not collect your contacts, your precise GPS location, health data or payment card details. We do not use advertising trackers, we do not track you across other companies’ apps or websites, and we do not sell your data.

Your location

Orbit shows you people who are nearby, so it needs to know roughly where you are. We have built it so that this never becomes your exact location.

  • Your phone only sends an approximate area of about 1 km. Your exact GPS position never leaves your phone.
  • We store it rounded to a grid of about 100 m, and we keep only your latest area, never a history of where you have been.
  • We delete it 24 hours after your last update.
  • Other people only see a distance band, such as “Within 1 km”. The band is never closer than the minimum you choose, and that minimum can never be less than 300 m.
  • We never share your location with other members, advertisers or anyone else.
  • If a location update is implausible (for example, a jump across the country in a few minutes), we ignore it.

You can turn location access off in your phone’s settings at any time. Orbit will not be able to show you people nearby while it is off.

Photos and verification

Photo checks

Every photo you add to your profile is checked automatically using Amazon Rekognition (a service from Amazon Web Services) to detect explicit or violent content. Photos that clearly break our rules are refused. Others may be reviewed by our moderators.

Selfie verification (optional)

You can choose to earn a “Verified” badge. We ask you to take a selfie in a random pose, then use Amazon Rekognition to detect the face and compare it with your profile photos. If they match, you get the badge.

  • Your selfie is stored privately. It is never shown on your profile.
  • Moderators look at it only when needed, for example if a check is unclear or a badge is challenged.
  • We do not keep face templates or facial measurements for any other purpose, and we do not use your selfie to identify you beyond this check.
  • Your selfie is deleted, including from storage, when you delete your account.

How we use it

  • To run Orbit: your account, your profile, showing you suitable people nearby, matching, messaging, Plans, vouches and notifications.
  • To keep people safe: checking photos and text, handling reports and blocks, and suspending accounts that break our rules (see the next section).
  • To provide Orbit Plus and packs and keep them in step with Apple.
  • To keep Orbit secure and prevent fraud, spam and abuse.
  • To improve Orbit using overall counts, not profiles of individuals.
  • To meet legal duties, such as keeping tax records or answering lawful requests.

We process your data because you asked us to provide Orbit (by creating an account) and gave your consent, which we record. Where the law allows, we also process it for legitimate uses such as safety and security, or because the law requires it.

Notifications

Push notifications do not show the text of messages unless you turn on Show message text in notifications in Settings.

Safety and moderation

  • Automatic checks: messages and profile text are checked by automated rules for threats, scams, sharing of contact details, sexual solicitation, signs of self-harm, and signs that someone may be under 18. Clear cases can lead to an automatic suspension. Others are sent to a human moderator.
  • Reports: when you report someone, our moderators see the report, the profiles involved and the message you reported.
  • Your messages are private. Moderators cannot browse conversations. They can open a conversation only when someone in it has been reported or our automatic checks have flagged it, and they must record a reason. Every such review is logged with the moderator’s name.
  • Vouches are anonymous. People who have chatted with or met you can vouch for you with positive tags only. Your profile can show a “genuine” level, but we never show who vouched.
  • Appeals: if your account is suspended, you can ask for a review through Support. A person, not a machine, will look at it.

Who sees and receives it

  • Other Orbit members see your profile: first name, age, photos, bio, prompts, interests, lifestyle tags, a verified badge or genuine level if you have one, and a distance band. They never see your date of birth, location, email or phone number. When you post a Plan, people who see it get its activity, day, time window and general area. When you show interest in someone’s Plan, its creator sees you. The exact meeting place is agreed in chat.
  • Service providers who run parts of Orbit for us, under contract and only for that purpose (listed below).
  • Authorities, when the law requires it or when it is needed to protect someone’s safety.
  • A buyer or successor if Orbit is sold or merged, under this same policy.

We do not sell personal data and we do not share it for advertising.

How long we keep it

DataHow long
Account, profile, photos, prompts, settings, likes, passes, matches, blocks, PlansUntil you delete your account
Conversations and messagesUntil you or the other person deletes their account
Location (rounded to about 100 m)24 hours after your last update
Verification selfiesUntil you delete your account
Vouches you gaveUntil you delete your account
Consent record (versions accepted and when)Until you delete your account
Sign-in sessionsUntil you sign out, after 60 days unused, or 180 days at most
One-time sign-in codes10 minutes
Days you opened Orbit400 days
Support requests365 days after the request is closed, or until you delete your account
Reports and moderation decisions2 years (730 days) after the decision, even if an account is deleted, so that deleting cannot erase a history of abuse
Purchase recordsAnonymised when you delete your account (no link to you), then kept for 8 years for tax and accounting
Database backupsUp to 7 days

After deletion we keep a bare record that an account existed (an internal id, its status and dates, with no profile or personal details) so that old reports still make sense.

Your rights and choices

  • Download your data: in the app, go to Settings → Download my data.
  • Correct it: edit your profile and settings in the app, or write to us.
  • Delete your account: in the app, go to Settings → Delete account. It takes effect immediately: you are signed out everywhere, and your profile, photos, selfies, messages, matches, Plans, vouches and support requests are deleted. If you used Sign in with Apple, we also revoke Orbit’s access with Apple. Deleting your account does not cancel an Apple subscription; cancel it in your Apple ID settings.
  • Withdraw consent: turn off location or notifications in your phone’s settings, or delete your account. Withdrawing consent does not affect what we did before.
  • Nominate someone to exercise your rights if you die or become unable to do so, as allowed under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
  • Raise a grievance with our Grievance Officer (see Contact). We will respond within the period the law requires. If you are not satisfied, you can complain to the Data Protection Board of India.

Security and storage

Data is encrypted in transit. Photos and selfies are stored privately and shown only through short-lived links. Access is limited to the people who need it, and moderator access is logged. Orbit’s servers and database are in Mumbai, India. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects you, we will tell you and the authorities as the law requires.

Changes to this policy

When we make an important change, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect and ask you to accept the new version. The app records which version you accepted and when. The current version is dated 2026-10-01.
